Stand on the left in Tokyo and on the right in the Osaka/Kyoto (Kansai) area. Leave the other side open for people walking.

ohayō gozaimasu
“Good morning”
The polite morning greeting, used until about 10–11am: hotel staff, café counters, your ryokan host. With friends, the short おはよう (ohayō) is fine.
